Pre WWE Career
CM Punk worked under the Ring of Honor (ROH) and TNA. In Ring of Honor (ROH) he also defeated Austin Aries to win the ROH World Championship on June 18, 2005 at Death Before Dishonor III with the Pepsi Plunge.
After this he signed on to the WWE.
WWE Career (2005-present)
When CM Punk joined WWE, he was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling, a WWE developmental territory. From there he joined ECW in 2006, and made his debut during a house show at the former ECW Arena, defeating Stevie Richards.
In ECW he had three chances to capture the ECW world Championship, but was able covert it in third time when he defeated John Morrison for the ECW title. But at SummerSlam 2007, he lost the title to Morrison again.
At WrestleMania XXIV, CM Punk won the ‘Money in the Bank match’.
In June 2008, CM Punk was drafted to RAW. On the next week, after Edge was beaten by Batista, CM Punk cashed his ‘Money in the Bank’ to capture the World heavyweight Championship.
He successfully defended the title against JBL later on the show and at SummerSlam 2008.
